Wildcats rise in Power Rankings

San Diego Wildcats News Release


As of January 31st, the ABA announced their power rankings and the Wildcats (14W-4L) were positioned at a strong 7th of 48 in the league. The Wildcats are first in the Red Conference in the West, and had an eight game win streak going into Saturday's loss to the Maywood Buzz. San Diego had not lost since December 16 against the Hollywood Fame.

Sacramento Heatwave vs San Diego Wildcats: Missing in action was ABA All-Star Cardell Butler in the loss to Maywood, but Butler returns to the lineup to start a tough week of games beginning this Thursday, February 8th. San Diego looks to bounce back and start a new winning streak as the team makes a run into the playoffs. On Thursday, the Wildcats will see for the first time the Sacramento Heatwave at Hoover High School in San Diego at 7pm. The Wildcats close the week with back-to-back games against the Beijing Aoshen Olympians on Friday at Azusa, and then coming back to San Diego on Sunday, February 11th to play at Mission Hills High School in San Marcos at 5pm.

San Diego Wildcats: Professional Basketball returns to San Diego! Yes that's right, the ABA's newest team, the Wildcats are calling San Diego home. The ABA originally operated from 1967 - 1976 before merging with the NBA has been brought back as a Professional Basketball Minor League. The San Diego Wildcats are expected to be one of the ABA's premiere teams while offering affordable entertainment for the whole family and community. Come out and catch an upcoming game, you can even say hello to one of the owners, you may recognise him as our very own Matty A.
