DAWSON CREEK, British Columbia - Winger Eliot Grauer (Mukioteo, Wash.) scored two goals Friday night to lead the Wenatchee Wild to its second straight win over the Dawson Creek Rage at the Encana Events Center, 4-1.
Grauer scored the first goal of the contest at 9:16 of the first period on a quick wrist shot from the bottom of the near circle. Tyler Hope (McKinney, Texas) and Ben Carey (Centennial, Colo.) assisted. The Rage responded quickly, tying the game 68 seconds later on a deflection by Jason Wark.
Wenatchee held a 2-1 lead at the first break thanks to Patrick Kinkopf's (Seattle, Wash.) goal from the point after he received a pass from D.J. Vandercook (Farmington Hills, Mich.) in the near faceoff area. Carl-Johan Sjogren (Sodertalje, Sweden) earned the second assist on what was Kinkopf's first goal in a Wild jersey.
Grauer scored the only goal of the second period to increase Wenatchee's lead to 3-1. During a power play, Grauer went forehand-to-backhand to beat goaltender Edward Dyson top shelf. Carey picked up his second assist of the game on the goal. Max McHugh (Edgewood, Wash.) scored an unassisted empty-netter with 1:17 remaining in the contest for the Wild's fourth goal.
Wenatchee netminder Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.) made 17 saves on 18 shots for his second win in as many games. Dyson made 36 saves on 39 shots, but was slapped with the loss.
Grauer led the Wild with two goals while Carey notched two assists. McHugh's goal was his third in the last two games.
The Wild (17-11-2) will go for a 3-game sweep against the Rage at 6 p.m. (PST) on Saturday.
