Wenatchee Wild News Release

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Wenatchee Wild dominated the first period of play for the second game in a row against the Wichita Falls Wildcats and went on to a 6-1 victory Friday night. It was Wenatchee's fourth straight win in 2010.

Andrew Christ (Spokane, Wash.) got the Wild rolling at the 5:17 mark of the first period when he deflected a shot past Erick Cinotti. Jake Flynn (Wenatchee, Wash.) and Kyle Brodie (Northglenn, Col.) were credited with assists on Christ's goal. Jeff Jubinville (Edmonton, AB) increased the Wild's lead to 2-0 with just over eight minutes remaining in the first frame when he scored on a wrist shot from the slot on the power play. Michael Di Puma (Chicago, Ill.) set up Jubinville with a perfect pass from behind the goal line, and Alex McLean (Duluth, Minn.) earned the second assist. Di Puma set up Jubinville again with just over three minutes to go in the first period to give the Wild a 3-0 lead.

The Wild maintained a 3-0 lead through 40 minutes of play despite giving the Wildcats five power play opportunities in the second period. Wenatchee goaltender Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.) stopped 15 shots in the second period alone.

Jubinville recorded a rare natural hat trick six minutes into the third period, beating Cinotti with a one-timer on a pass from Adam McKenzie (Petaluma, Calif.). A natural hat trick occurs when a player scores three straight goals without another player from either team scoring in between. Jubinville leads the Wild with 35 points (18G, 17A). Dajon Mingo (Canton, Mich.), who has seven points in his last four games, recorded the second assist on Jubinville's third goal.

The Wildcats scored their lone goal of the game 21 seconds after Jubinville's hat trick goal when Chris Leone redirected the puck into the net. Wenatchee went on to score two unanswered power play goals after Leone lit the lamp. Armand Deswardt (Dallas, Texas) scored on a wrister at the 9:39 mark of the third frame. Brodie and Brandon Burrell (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) assisted. Burrell scored the last goal of the game at the 13:40 mark on an unassisted blast from the point.

Brodie, Di Puma and Burrell had two points apiece on the night. Jaeger made 38 saves on 39 shots, including a breakaway chance late in the first period. He improved to 12-1-1 on the season with the win.

The final game of the Wenatchee-Wichita Falls 3-game series will take place tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Central time at the Kay Yeager Coliseum in Wichita Falls.
