
Wild Things Take Finale over Rascals

WASHINGTON, WA - The River City Rascals dropped their series finale 7-5 to the Washington Wild Things on Sunday night at Wild Things Park, giving the Things the 2-1 series win. The season series ends tied at three.
After three scoreless innings, the Wild Things struck for five runs in the bottom of the fourth, on a two-run single from Hector Roa, a two-run double from Conner Simonetti and an RBI single from Brett Marr. The Rascals got an RBI single from Trevor Achenbach in the fifth.
After the Wild Things scored two more in the sixth, the Rascals got three in the seventh, after drawing back-to-back walks with the bases loaded from Ransom LaLonde and Achenbach. JD Hearn brought in the third run on an RBI fielder's choice, trimming the lead to 7-4. The Rascals got one more run in the ninth, with Zach Lavy coming home to score on an error from Washington third baseman Mike Hill. The Rascals had a runner at second with one out and the tying run at the plate, but Zach Strecker got the next two men out to finish a six-out save, his 16th of the year.
Rascals starter Dalton Roach (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs in 3.2 innings. Wild Things starter Michael Austin (1-2) earned the win, going six innings, allowing three runs and six strikeouts.
The Rascals (38-35) are off Monday, and kick-off a three-game series in Florence, KY on Tuesday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 pm ET.
