Wenatchee Wild News Release

DAWSON CREEK, British Columbia - Max McHugh (Edgewood, Wash.) scored a pair of goals and Robert Nichols (Dallas, Texas) shut out the Dawson Creek Rage for the second time in three days to the lead the Wenatchee Wild to a 3-0 win and a 3-game road sweep at the Encana Events Center in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Nichols, who stopped all 13 shots he faced, set a new individual single season record for shutouts with his sixth of the season. Nichols surpassed Brandon Jaeger, who recorded five shutouts last season.

McHugh netted the only goal the Wild would need 9:05 into the first stanza on a wrist shot that was scored during a delayed penalty. Nichols and Brendan Vetter (North Fond du Lac, Wis.) assisted.

McHugh scored his second goal of the contest 37 seconds into the second frame when he cleaned up a rebound from the far side of the cage. Shawn Pauly (Bellingham, Wash.) and Chris Kerr (Penticton, British Columbia) assisted.

Trace Redmond (McKinney, Texas) made it a 3-goal game two and a half minutes later during a power play when he lit the lamp on a wraparound. Blake Roubos (Niagara Falls, Ontario) and Ben Carey (Centennial, Colo.) assisted.

In addition to earning his sixth shutout of the season, Nichols also increased his record to 13-2-3. Paul Bourbeau was tagged with the loss even though he turned away 51-of-54 shots.

Wenatchee scored one power play goal on four chances while Dawson Creek went 0-for-2 on its advantages.

The Wild (20-10-4) will begin a stretch of three straight home series with a 2-game set against the Fresno Monsters this weekend (Jan. 20-21). Both games will begin at 7:05 p.m.
