Arizona Sundogs News Release

Prescott Valley, AZ - A wild second period pushes the Sundogs to a 4-2 win over the Allen Americans, Thursday night at the Allen Event Center. Riley Emmerson collected the game winning goal and Garrett Clarke, Bryan Cameron, Jason Morgan and Justin Pender all collected two points.

A scoreless first period and a wild second gave the Sundogs the edge they needed heading into the final 20 minutes. The Americans gained the early lead with a goal from Alex Lavoie 16:18 into the first period, and their second goal came 5:35 into the second while on the power play from Jonathon Zion, after Arizona's Jason Morgan was issued two minutes for hooking. 1:11 later and Arizona answered back when Pender lit the lamp with a feed from Kevin Baker and Clarke. With less than ten minutes remaining, Matt McCready and Emmerson posted back-to-back goals within 19 seconds. The first came on the man-advantage after McCready registered the goal with assists from Cameron and Morgan. Emmerson collected the game winning goal with assist from Clarke and newly acquired forward, Josh Harris.

The Sundogs sealed the game in the third period when Cameron tallied an empty net goal after Allen pulled their goalie for the extra attacker.

Sundogs' netminder, Andrew Engelage was awarded the win blocking 39 shots. The Americans outshot the Sundogs 41-35. Arizona capitalized on their lone power play opportunity, while Allen was 1-4.

The Sundogs will travel to Tulsa where they will meet the Oilers for a pair of games Friday and Saturday night at the BOK Center before returning to Tim's Toyota Center where they will host the Oilers on home ice.
