CHL Commissioner Upholds Rouleau Suspension

February 13, 2014 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

GLENDALE, AZ (February 13, 2014) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Commissioner Steve Ryan has upheld the one (1) game suspension that was assessed to Allen Americans defenseman Ross Rouleau on Tuesday for an "Illegal Check to the Head" of his opponent in a game on Saturday, February 8 in Missouri.

After an appeal by the Allen Americans and a subsequent hearing on Wednesday, it was determined that Rouleau will miss Allen's game tonight versus Arizona. The defenseman has three goals and 12 assists in 41 games this season.

In recent seasons, the CHL has followed the steps of the National Hockey League in putting more accountability on the players without changing the inherent, physical nature of the sport. The CHL prohibits any "hit resulting in contact where the opponent's head is the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable".
