WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Wenatchee Wild opened up a 2-0first-period lead and never looked back, earning a 2-game weekend sweep overdivision foe Fresno Saturday with a 6-1 victory at the Town Toyota Center. Thewin was the Wild's fourth straight and second straight series sweep.

Just as they did in the first game of the series, the Wildheld a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play Saturday. Both goals came on powerplays, starting with Blake Roubos' (NiagaraFalls, Ontario) marker, which was scored during a two-man advantage 20 minutesinto the contest. Roubos redirected the puck into the net from the side of thecage on a one-timer by Josh Hartley(Coquitlam, Canada). Jono Davis (LaVerne, Calif.) earned the second assist on his one-time feed to Hartley.

Nicholas Kuchera(Eagan, Minn.) doubled Wenatchee's lead to 2-0 with 3:27 left in the firstperiod when he scored from the slot on a rebound off of David Powlowski's (Rochester, N.Y.) wraparound try. Lance Carney (White Bear Lake, Minn.)also assisted.

The Wild exploded for more four goals in the second period, twoof which were scored on power plays. Carney started the scoring barrage alittle over two minutes into the stanza when he lit the lamp for the first timethis season on a wrist shot from the top of the circles. Dillon Eichstadt (Bemidji, Minn.) and Brian Williams (San Diego, Calif.) assisted on the even-strengthgoal.

Chris Kerr (Penticton,British Columbia) scored Wenatchee's third power-play goal of the game 8:13into the second period when he knocked in a rebound. Max McHugh (Edgewood, Wash.) and Powlowski assisted. Powlowski madeit 5-0 with a little over nine minutes left before the second intermission whenhe knocked in his second goal of the season and his team's fourth power-playgoal of the contest. Roubos and Kuchera assisted.

Defenseman BlakeButzow (Plymouth, Mich.) closed out scoring later in the second period whenhe snapped in his first goal of the season from the point. Jacob Barber (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) and Kerr earned the assists.

Kyle Buffardi scored Fresno's lone goal of the game near themidpoint of the third period during a power play. Christian Salvato and TrevorHusch picked up the assists.

Robert Nichols(Dallas, Texas) and Jordyn Kaufer (Stillwater,Minn.) combined to make 21 saves on 22 shots for the Wild. Nichols' 12-saveeffort through 40 minutes of play was enough to earn his 12th win ofthe season. Macauley Haight made 37 saves on 43 shots for the Monsters.

The Wild scored four power-play goals in the contest whilethe Monsters scored one power-play goal on seven opportunities.

Powlowski led the Wild with three points (1G, 2A) while Kuchera(1G, 1A), Kerr (1G, 1A), Roubos (1G, 1A) and Carney (1G, 1A) each notched twopoints.

The Wild (16-3-1) will be back in action this weekend (Nov.30-Dec. 1) when they host the Johnstown Tomahawks. Both games are slated tobegin at 7:05 p.m.
