Wild Recalls Kassian, Reassigns Earl

HOUSTON --- Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled forward Matt Kassian from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Wild has also reassigned forward Robbie Earl to Houston.

Kassian, 24 (10/28/86), has been recalled for the third time this season. He has averaged 5:17 time on ice (TOI) and has 12 penalty minutes (PIM) in three games with the Wild. Kassian has two points (1-1=2) and a team-high 54 PIM in 18 games with the Aeros this season. Kassian made his NHL debut Friday, Nov. 5 against Calgary. The 6-foot-5, 252-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (No. 57 overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Kassian wears No. 28 with the Wild.

Earl, 25 (6/2/85), was recalled by the Wild on Nov. 13 and played in six games with Minnesota, averaging 8:45 TOI while not recording a point. Earl has posted nine points (4-5=9) in 14 games for the Aeros this season. The 5-foot-11, 198-pound native of Chicago, Ill., totaled six points (6-0=6) and averaged 8:56 time on ice (TOI) in 32 games for the Wild in the 2009-10 season. Earl was acquired from Toronto in exchange for left wing Ryan Hamilton on Jan. 21, 2009.
