Wild Fall In Shootout

FRISCO, Texas - The Texas Tornado defeated the Wenatchee Wild Saturday night in a shootout, 2-1. It was Texas' second straight win over Wenatchee, but the Wild still tacked one point onto its season total by playing beyond regulation.
Nolan Youngmun (Anchorage, Alaska) gave the Wild a 1-0 lead with a little more than seven minutes remaining in the first period when he scored a power play goal on a rebound opportunity. It was Youngmun's eighth goal of the season. Nathan Sliwinski (Castle Rock, Col.) and Adam McKenzie (Petaluma, Calif.) assisted.
Wenatchee maintained its 1-0 lead through a majority of the game until Texas' Alex Boyer scored midway through the third period to force overtime. The game went to a shootout after a scoreless overtime period. Ten players shot in the shootout before Texas' James Poston finally broke the tie as his team's 10th shooter.
Wenatchee goaltender Brendan Jensen (El Granada, Calif.) made 31 saves while facing 32 shots. Jensen fell to 6-1-2 with the shootout loss. Texas netminder Dan Sullivan was equally impressive, stopping all but one of Wenatchee's 33 shots. Wenatchee was 1-for-6 on the power play while Texas went 0-for-7.
The Wild, who went 2-2-1 on its 5-game road trip in Texas over the last two weeks, return home for a 2-game series at the Town Toyota Center next weekend (Jan. 22-23) against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.
