
Wild en Route to Showcase Tournament

WENATCHEE, Wash. - TheNorth American Hockey League's (NAHL) eighth annual Showcase Tournament, beingheld this season at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn., doesn't officiallybegin until tomorrow. For the Wenatchee Wild, however, the journey to thetournament began much earlier.
All of the Wild's players and coaches, as well as theorganization's Midget Major team (U18) boarded an Amtrak train Sunday night fora 33-hour ride to Minn. They will make 26 stops along the way, and fans areencouraged to sign up to follow the team via Facebook and Twitter. Players andcoaches will write status updates and tweets during its trip to the tournament,as well as during the tournament itself.
Each of the NAHL's 26 teams will play four regular-seasongames at the Showcase Tournament. Wenatchee will open tournament play at 5:45p.m. tomorrow against Owatonna before facing off against Wichita Falls at 12:30p.m. on Thursday. The Wild then play Traverse City at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, andPort Huron at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. All times listed above are PacificStandard Time.
Of course, the Wild will try to duplicate the success itenjoyed at last season's Showcase Tournament. The Wild went 4-0 at last year'stournament and, via a goal differential tie-breaker, was crowned the event'schampion. Eight members of last season's tournament-winning team are back withthe Wild this season, including BrandonJaeger, who was league's top goaltender.
All of the Showcase Tournament games will be broadcast liveover the Internet through FASTHockey at www.nahl.fasthockey.com.Before fans can watch games, they must sign up for a free account at www.fasthockey.com/registration.FASTHockey utilizes a unique game-credit system for watching games, offeringdiscounts to customers who watch multiple games.
