July 17, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Wichita Wild News Release

The Wichita Wild will enter unchartered territory on Saturday as they play in the first postseason game in franchise history. The Wild (8-6) will play in the first round of the Indoor Football League (IFL) playoffs vs. the Bloomington Extreme (10-4) at US Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, IL. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 7:05 PM and the game can be heard on 1330 AM KNSS. Wild fans can also watch the game LIVE for $7 online at www.b2livetv.com.

Both teams come into the game on their longest winning streaks of the season. Wichita won their final three games of the year with their last loss coming on June 6 in Bloomington. The Extreme won their final five regular season games with their last contest taking place back on June 20. The 27 day layoff for the Extreme could be a major factor in the game.

The Bloomington offense is averaging 43.9 points per game (11th in the league), despite only playing five games against playoff teams. The Wild rank seventh in the league averaging 45.1 points per game while playing eight games against playoff teams. Since acquiring Dixie Wooten at quarterback, Wichita is averaging 74.5 points per game. Wooten has thrown for 303 yards and nine touchdowns in just two games as Wild QB.

Bloomington?s strong suit is on defense as the Extreme allowed the fewest points in the league this season. The Extreme recorded 31 interceptions, which led the league and had a turnover margin of +21 which was second best in the IFL.

Wichita?s defense is led by First team All-IFL selection Lamont Reid. Reid recorded 68.5 tackles and led the team with 9.5 tackles for loss. The Wild allow an average of 36.6 points per game, which ranks 6th in the league.

The winner of the game will travel to Omaha to take on the Beef on Saturday, July 25.
