Wichita Wild News Release
WICHITA, KS. - The Wichita Wild of the IFL (Indoor Football League) will take on the Allen Wranglers Saturday night in the team's second home game of the 2012 season. The game will be played at Hartman Arena. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:05 pm CST.
Wichita has already played Allen on the road this season. Allen came away with a 50-30 victory even though Wichita outgained Allen in total yards; 265 to 169. Wichita limited Allen Quarterback Bryan Randall to only 6-21 for 108 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions; all three touchdowns were recorded by Allen Wide Receiver Terrell Owens.
The Allen Wranglers (3-1) are heading into Saturday night's game off a 61-55 loss to the Colorado Ice. In that game, under the direction of new team Quarterback Ben Sankey, Allen totaled 301 yards in Offense. However the Wranglers failed to shut down the lethal combination of Colorado's Quarterback David Knighton and Wide Receiver Mark Henderson who connected for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Wichita Wild (0-3) are coming off an 81-54 home loss to the Sioux Falls Storm. Wichita jumped out to a first quarter lead in dominating style, but Sioux Falls quickly regained the lead in the second quarter and never looked back. In the loss, Wild Quarterback Phil Staback completed 21 passes to six different receivers; Tywon Hubbard leading the team with 58 yards receiving. Ultimately the game came down to numbers that the Wild lost, accumulating 207 yards in total offense to Sioux Falls 445 yards.
Key Matchup: Allen Offense vs. Wichita Defense/Special Teams Allen's Offense is currently ranked fifth in the league averaging 49.5 points a game, while Wichita's Defense is third to last allowing 56.3 points a game. Wichita's Defense must contain Terrell Owens and stop Allen's efficient Offense in order to win Saturday night. Another focus point for Wichita this weekend will be their Special Teams. Wichita is third in the league in return average against, but last game the Wranglers exploited the Wild in this department.
