Wichita B-52s Advance to Round of 16 After Win over Denver

The B-52s ended 2013 in the best way possible on Saturday night! Still in the holiday spirit, the Orange and Navy gifted Wichita fans with the biggest win in franchise history. Wichita took the lead after just 16 seconds (with the fastest goal in club history) from Heviel Cordoves, and never let up on the gas. The highest scoring quarter in B-52s history came in the second with 7 goals from 6 different B-52s -Modesto (who had a hat-trick), Clare, Moseley, Cordoves (also with a hat-trick), Jackson, and Hobson with his 2 short-handed goals, including an incredible chip from about 125 feet out! Hans Hassell made his debut in defense, along with Nathan Keith who had a fine showing in the net with 9 saves.

The win over Denver advances the B-52s to the Round of 16 in the US Open Arena Soccer Championships. An opponent has not been decided yet as there are two games still to be played. The winner between the Tulsa Revolution (PASL) and BH United (Independent) will play the Tulsa Tea Men (Independent). The team that emerges from those games will be our next opponent. We will release information on that game once details have been worked out.
