BIRMINGHAM, Ala â With the sixth season of Birmingham Steeldogs football fast approaching, Head Coach Bobby Humphrey is looking for a few good men to fill the remaining spots on his 2005 roster.
Humphrey will conduct an open tryout on Sunday, Feb. 13 at Birmingham's Lawson Field. The camp will start promptly at noon with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m. The cost of registration is $40 and no registrations will be accepted after Sunday at noon. Participants will be evaluated in the 40-yard dash, long and short shuttles, standing broad jump, passing and catching drills and other professional drills. A camp for kickers will be established at a later date.
Lawson Field is located on Birmingham's east side off of Interstate 20 near Irondale. From downtown Birmingham, exit at Oporto-Madrid Blvd. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp and cross underneath the interstate bridge. Lawson Field is located on the right, just past the interstate bridge.
