Detroit Shock News Release

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. --- On Sunday, June 29, when the Detroit Shock play the Atlanta Dream, fans will be asking, "Who let the dogs in?"

The Detroit Shock are hosting the Second Annual Dog Day of Summer and Section 120 at The Palace of Auburn Hills will go to the dogs...literally.

Last summer, The Palace of Auburn Hills became the first WNBA venue to invite dogs to a game. This year, animal lovers can take advantage of the Dog Day of Summer package, which includes two Shock tickets, one "canine" ticket, two hot dogs, two sodas and a Shock dog bandana, all for $40.

Dog Day will feature a Doggy VIP Lounge outside Comcast Pavilion at the arena. At the lounge, dogs will receive complimentary grooming, massage and sample various products provided by local veterinary clinics, vendors and stores. Owners will receive training tips and can take part in a dog/owner look-alike contest, a best dog trick competition and a doggie dance.

The Michigan Humane Society's health and education staff will be on-site to offer health information to Shock fans for their dogs. Sod will be laid down in the parking lot to serve as a rest area for the pups and kennels will be provided for dogs with behavioral issues. All the dogs attending the events must be vaccinated and remain on a leash. Owners must present the proper paperwork at the door for any dogs not wearing tags.

Meijer, the Grand Rapids-based retailer is the presenting sponsor for the 2008 Detroit Shock. For more information regarding the Second Annual Shock Dog Day of Summer, please call (248) 377-0126 or visit www.detroitshock.com/dogday .
