
WHL and SHAW announce 2008-09 broadcast schedule

Calgary, AB. - The Western Hockey League and SHAW Cablesystems today announced that SHAW will broadcast 30 WHL Regular Season games on the full cable network in Western Canada during the 2008-09 WHL regular season as well as providing extensive coverage of the 2009 WHL Playoffs. SHAW is entering its fifth season as the official regional cable broadcaster of the Western Hockey League.
The 2008-09 WHL on SHAW television broadcast schedule begins Thursday, September 18th with a special opening night game from the Cranbrook Recreation Complex as the Memorial Cup Champion and WHL Champion Spokane Chiefs begin defense of their titles against the Kootenay Ice. The broadcast will begin at 7:00 pm MT with a special half hour WHL season preview show followed by the WHL season opening game.
The WHL on SHAW broadcast schedule will feature the Friday Night WHL Game of the Week with 15 of the 30 broadcasts falling on a Friday night during the WHL Regular Season.
