
Whitecaps FC Release Additional Tickets to the Much Anticipated Manchester City Match

VANCOUVER, BC - On Monday, July 18, 2011, at 7 p.m. PT, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will kickoff against this year ¬â¢s English FA Cup winners, Manchester City. As demand increases for tickets to this highly anticipated match, Whitecaps FC have now released 3,000 additional seats for the upcoming international friendly.
With less than two weeks remaining until the match, a limited number of tickets have been released to ensure that an increased number of fans can take in the action live on July 18 on Bell Pitch at Empire Field. Manchester City tickets are available for $60 (including HST) and are subject to applicable service charges and fees. Fans can purchase these tickets at all Ticketmaster Ticket Centres, online at ticketmaster.ca/whitecaps or Change-by-Phone at 1.855.6.GO-CAPS (1.866.646.2277).
¬ÅAlong with our official match night media partner, Pacific Newspaper Group, and official match night partner, Premium Brands Group of Companies, we are delighted to host a club of Manchester City ¬â¢s caliber in our inaugural MLS season ¬Â said Whitecaps FC chief operating officer Paul Barber. ¬ÅAs part of the 2011 Herbalife World Football Challenge, Manchester City will use this summer tour to prepare for the upcoming Premier League season and UEFA Champions League. ¬Â
Manchester City is managed by former Italian international Roberto Mancini and features a roster stocked with world-class players including David Silva, Gareth Barry, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Joe Hart, Jérôme Boateng, Nigel de Jong and Mario Balotelli.
Of the 3,000 seats that have been released, 500 tickets are being made available to BC Youth Soccer at the special group rate of $40. These 500 tickets are in addition to the 1,000 that were originally released to BC Youth Soccer which have sold out. These tickets are being made available as part of Whitecaps FC ¬â¢s ongoing commitment to investing in BC youth, while giving them the opportunity to see one of the best teams in the world. Vancouver Whitecaps FC has a great record against Manchester City having defeated them in both previous meetings, beating them 5-0 at Empire Stadium in 1980 and 2-0 at the Pacific National Exhibition grounds in 1981. This match will prove to be highly exciting and entertaining as Vancouver aims for their third win against the Blues who are the third place finishers in the English Premier League.
