Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks News Release


The Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks have just signed three players to their 2003 roster. Adam Wheeler, Nick Sorensen, and Steven Tomaszewski will be playing for the Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks.

Adam Wheeler, this 23 year-old 6'1" 185 lbs. pitcher is a former player of the University of North Alabama. In 2001, Wheeler was named most valuable pitcher for his team, with a record of 3-4 and an ERA of 5.12 and an average of .292. Nick Sorensen comes to the Ducks from Kansas State University. He's a 6'1" 205 lbs. centerfield and outfield player. He started all four games for the Purple Sox in the outfield, while posting a .308 batting average.

Steven Tomaszewski, a 6'1" 195 lbs. 22 year-old first baseman, joins the Ducks from Delta State University. While there he was second in the GSC in RBI (66), doubles (20), and fourth in homeruns (11) and runs (61). MDA Lock-Up

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is holding their lock-up at Price Cutter Park on Tuesday, April 1, from 9 AM – 5 PM. This will be a fundraiser for local business people to help out the MDA by being put in "jail" and get bailed out through donations to the MDA. Around the CBL

The Coastal Bend Aviators announced that they have filled a veteran slot with the acquisition and signing of speedster Juan Moreno. Moreno, 27, will be entering his second season in the CBL and 11th overall as a professional. He batted .296 as well as having stolen 39 bases in 46 attempts.

The Aviators are currently seeking host families for the 2003 season. If anyone is interested contact Elizabeth Schrader at 361-387-8585.

The Jackson Senators announced that the Boston Red Sox have purchased the rights of left-handed pitcher Parker Friske. Friske will have the opportunity to play for the Augusta Green Jackets of the Class A South Atlantic League.
