Wheat Kings to Tangle with Tigers

March 20, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, MB. - Brandon Wheat Kings playoff "assigned seating" ticket sales have been brisk as the Western Hockey League club begins preparations for their first round series against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The Wheat Kings, who closed out the 2017-18 regular season by sweeping a weekend home and home series with the league leading Moose Jaw Warriors, will travel to Medicine Hat for games one and two this weekend before returning to Manitoba to host the Tigers in Dauphin for games three and four of the best of seven Eastern Conference Quarterfinal.

Unlike last season when tickets were based on "rush seating", fans will now have the opportunity to purchase specific seats - whether they do it at the Keystone Centre box office, online at HERE or by calling (204) 726-3555.

The Arena map and breakdown of seat locations can be found online.

Ticket prices for the games to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 27th and 28th are $25 for adults or $15 for youth (17 and under).

The Wheat Kings have been forced to play their first round series in Dauphin, due to the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair that will occupy the Keystone Centre from March 26th to April 1st.

Brandon averaged close to 3,900 fans per home game this past season.

This will mark the second straight year that Brandon has met the Tigers in the first round of post-season play.

While the Tigers captured the Central Division during the regular season with a 36-28-8-0 record, the Wheat Kings finished fourth in the tight Eastern Division with a record of 40-27-3-2, good for 85 points and the first wild card spot in the Conference.

Other WHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series will feature Moose Jaw up against Prince Albert, Regina vs. Swift Current and Lethbridge up against the Red Deer Rebels.
