What to Watch for vs. New York Riptide
February 26, 2022 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release
Uniondale, NY - The Toronto Rock (6-3) are back in the empire state to face the New York Riptide (1-7) tonight at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. The Rock have won four in a row and will try and earn another road win and run their overall winning streak to five games with a victory this evening.
Fans can watch the game live at 7:30pm ET on TSN's digital platforms via TSN.ca and the TSN App. To stream the game, simply login to TSN Direct with your cable or satellite provider's credentials or your TSN Direct account info if you're a subscriber to the streaming service.
Here's what to watch for in tonight's matchup.
Familiar faces. Former Rock Damon Edwards, Kieran McArdle and Scott Dominey will face their old squad. Dominey and McArdle have never faced the Rock, however Edwards has played against the Rock twice as a member of the Boston Blazers in 2011. Oddly enough, the Blazers coach that season was current Rock head coach Matt Sawyer.
The Riptide have lost three in a row and their lone win came on the road. They are 0-4 at home.
The Rock have placed lefty forward Zach Manns on the Active Roster from the Injured Reserve. He missed just one game due to injury. Aaron Forster was placed on the Practice Roster.
Tonight is a bit of a homecoming for Captain America Tom Schreiber who hails from East Meadow, NY which is just minutes from Nassau Coliseum. This will be the first time Schreiber plays in his hometown in his NLL career.
Nick Rose can climb two rungs on the all-time saves ladder tonight. 5 saves move him into 10th place all-time passing Aaron Bold. 16 saves move him into 9th place all-time passing Matt Disher.
Tom Schreiber leads the NLL with 7 power play goals. He's also second in goals with 25, which is 2 shy of league leader Lyle Thompson of Georgia, who has played 3 more games than Tom.
Brad Kri leads the NLL with 26 caused turnovers while his teammate Mitch de Snoo sits third with 20. Quite the dynamic takeaway duo, tops in the NLL. Add Latrell Harris to the mix who has 13 and has played just 5 of the Rock's 9 games.
Check out this week's edition of the Toronto Rock Total Access podcast to get yourself ready for the game. This week's show featured a visit with longtime NLL and Toronto Rock colour analyst Brian Shanahan.
The Rock will return home to face these same Riptide next Saturday night at 7pm ET at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, ON. It will be the first time in 2022 that the Rock will play in front of fans in Rock City!
