Danbury Westerners News Release
Things are really starting to heat-up... With only fifteen games into the season the Westerners have racked-up ten big 'W's...
Last week was a week to remember for the Danbury Westerners. Following Jamie Shevchik's and the Westerners success in the NECBL TeamUSA game on Monday, the Westerners nearly swept the table clean (except for a hiccup in Friday's second game against Keene) with 6 wins and 1 loss, and Tanner Krietemeier was named NECBL Player of the Week.
Tonight, the Westerners return home from one of the most successful road trips in recent Danbury history as they overwhelmed three of the league's most dominant teams.
The Westerners got outstanding pitching performances from Nick Williams (8-2 over North Adams), Sam Eagleson (14-8 over Newport), and newcomer Mike Augliera (4-2 over Vermont) in his initial Danbury start.
They out scored the competition 26-12, out-hit the competition .344 to .288 and, in a league where a .250 batting average is a milestone, the Westerners are currently hitting .347, as a team, for the season.
Tonight, Kevin Link and the Westerners host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30. On Wednesday the equally power-laden Holyoke Blue Sox return on Danbury Police Night. Saturday kicks-off Parent's Weekend as the Mountaineers invade Rogers Park for a Saturday - Sunday twin bill. Hartsburg Chiropractic to support DCF will be Saturday's sponsor and Sunday is Jimmy Fund Night.
Come down to the ballpark tonight to see why, no one wants to face the red-hot Danbury Westerners.
