Western New York Flash News Release
ELMA, NY - The Western New York Flash announced today that the team has transferred forward Adriana Leon to FC Zî1/4rich Frauen of the Swiss National League in Switzerland. Per club and league policies, detailed terms of the deal and transfer fee were not disclosed.
"Adriana has been a pleasure to work with this season," Western New York Flash head coach Paul Riley said. "She has a great opportunity in Europe and, based on the present form of our front two, we all feel it will be hugely beneficial for her career to get substantially more playing time and experience in a different league. She is a talented player and I personally want to thank her for her commitment and dedication to our club over the past nine months."
Leon has spent the past nine months with the Flash after being acquired in a trade with the Chicago Red Stars in November 2015. Leon made ten appearances with the Flash, including three starts.
The fourth-place Western New York Flash (8-5-3) will travel to face the league-leading Washington Spirit (11-3-2) on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. ET.
