Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Stampede defeated the Waterloo Black Hawks 2-1 in overtime last night in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals to win the series three games to one. The Herd have now advanced to the Western Conference Final against the Anderson Cup champion Tri-City Storm in a best-of-five series which will begin on Tuesday, April 30th in Kearney, Nebraska. Game 2 will take place on Wednesday night in Kearney.
The Stampede will host Game 3 of the series next Friday, May 3rd at the PREMIER Center and, if necessary, Game 4 on Saturday, May 4th. Game times are 7:05 PM each night. Game 5 of the series would take place on Tuesday, May 7th in Kearney.
The Stampede enter the series with a 5-1 playoff record, sweeping the Sioux City Musketeers in the first round in two games before topping Waterloo in four games in the second round. Sioux Falls is the only team in the Clark Cup Playoffs who did not receive a bye to advance to the conference final.
The Stampede finished the regular season tied for second place in the Western Conference with a 39-16-7 record. The Tri-City Storm captured the Anderson Cup title for the best record in the league at 45-12-5. Sioux Falls went 1-3-0 in four games against the Storm during the regular season. The two teams have not met since March 2nd in Sioux Falls and November 30th in Kearney. This marks the second time ever these two teams have met in the Conference Final. The Herd defeated the Storm in four games during the 2014-15 season in which the Herd went on to win the Clark Cup. The Stampede finished their 20th anniversary regular season with the third most points in franchise history (85), fourth all-time in total wins (39) and second most in home wins all-time (23).
Tickets for Game 3 of the series are on sale now through the PREMIER Center or any Ticketmaster outlet. Tickets for Game 4 will go on sale if the game becomes necessary. Season ticket holders can pick up their Western Conference Final tickets starting Monday at 8 AM through the Stampede office.
