Westchester's Mike Miller Named Inaugural NBA Development League Coach of the Month

NEW YORK, Dec. 2, 2015 - The Westchester Knicks' Mike Miller has been named the first-ever NBA Development League Coach of the Month for games played in November.
Miller guided Westchester to a 6-0 record, making the Knicks the only undefeated team in the NBA D-League. The perfect mark comes despite having Jimmer Fredette, second overall pick in the 2015 NBA D-League Draft, receive a GATORADE Call-Up from the New Orleans Pelicans two days before Westchester's season opener, and losing DaJuan Summers, the NBA D-League Performer of the Week for Nov. 12-22, to a season-ending injury after three games. Miller's team held opponents to 88.2 points per game, highlighted by an 83-79 win over the Erie BayHawks on Nov. 14 and an 85-78 win over the Idaho Stampede on Nov. 24.
Miller, a first-time head coach in the NBA D-League, joined Westchester after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the Austin Spurs, the affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs. Austin went 32-18 in the 2014-15 season and won the Southwestern Division title. Before the NBA D-League, Miller served as an assistant coach at UC Riverside (2012-13 season), head coach at Eastern Illinois (2005-2012) and an assistant coach at Kansas State (2000-2005).
Other coaches receiving consideration for the monthly award were Austin's Ken McDonald, Sioux Falls' Dan Craig, Iowa's Bob Donewald, Los Angeles' Casey Owens and Rio Grande Valley's Matt Brase.
