GRAND RAPIDS, MICH - The Grand Rapids Drive, the NBA Affiliate of the Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has completed a trade with the Raptors 905, NBA D-League Affiliate of the Toronto Raptors.
The terms of the trade are the Grand Rapids Drive trade Grand Rapids Own 2016 Second Round NBA D-League Draft Pick to the Raptors 905 in exchange for the returning player rights to Dahntay Jones.
Jones (12/27/80), a 6-foot-6, 225-pound forward from Duke received All-ACC Honorable Mention honors in 2002. During his two years at Duke, Jones averaged 11.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists as a junior and as a senior, he played 33 games, averaging 17.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. The Boston Celtics selected Dahntay Jones as the 20th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and was later traded to the Memphis Grizzlies where he played his first four professional seasons, averaging 5.0 points per game. After several years around the NBA and his short stint with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in 2008, Jones was acquired by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in Nov 2014 and after receiving three 10-day call ups, Jones signed with the Clippers on Feb 3, 2015. Later, on Sept. 10, 2015, Jones signed with the Brooklyn Nets and was later waved on Oct 26, 2015 after appearing in four pre-season games.
The Grand Rapids Drive has two games left during the teams three game road trip before retuning home on Sun. Dec. 6, 2015 where they will take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Tip off at 4:00 PM. This is will the kick off game to the River City Sundays.
