Ohio Valley Greyhounds News Release
Wheeling, WV- The 2002 & 2003 National Champion Ohio Valley Greyhounds would like to clarify the tie- breakers for the 2004 Indoor Bowl.
The NIFL tie-breakers are based on the NFL tie-breaks, they read as this:
1. Head to Head Record (best won-lost-tied percentage in games played among the clubs).
2. Best won- loss-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
3. Best won-loss-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
4. Best combined ranking, among conference teams, in points scored and points allowed.
5. Best combined ranking, among all teams, in points scored and points allowed.
6. Best net points in conference games.
7. Best net points in all games.
8. A coin toss.
The Greyhounds hold a tie with both Sioux Falls and Billings thru number four. SF and Billings both hold the advantage over the Greyhounds with number four (Best combined ranking, among conference teams, in points scored and points allowed).
SF ranks 3 (off) and 1 (def) for a total of 4, Bill ranks 4(off) and 2(def) for a total of 6. Ohio Valley ranks 6 (off) and 1(def) for a total of 7.
If Omaha or Utah could have won in the conference semi final Ohio Valley would have hosted IB4.
The Ohio Valley Greyhounds or Lexington will travel to the Pacific Conference Champion for Indoor Bowl IV.
