Get to Know the Wild's New Players

‚¬Â¢ Jacob Barber: Acquired in a trade with the Alaska Avalanche, Barber, who turned 19 years old on Feb. 2, becomes the team's top goal scorer (25).

‚¬Â¢ Greg Lewis: Picked up from the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL, Lewis made 25 saves on 28 shots in his debut with the Wild Saturday, a 3-2 loss to the Alaska Avalanche.

‚¬Â¢ Cody von Rueden: A veteran USHLer, von Rueden recorded an assist Saturday against the Avalanche.

‚¬Â¢ Mario Puskarich: An 18-year-old forward, Puskarich was acquired from Tri-City of the USHL.

Brief Hold on Second Place

‚¬Â¢ D.J. Vandercook (Farmington Hills, Mich.) scored the lone goal in a shootout last Friday to lead the Wild to a 4-3 victory over the Alaska Avalanche. The win gave Wenatchee a temporary hold on second place in the West Division. The following night, however, the Avs earned a split in the series with a 3-2 win, sending the Wild back to third place.

Roster Changes

‚¬Â¢ The Wild sent forward Eliot Grauer and goaltender Nick Kulmanovsky to the Alaska Avalanche last week in exchange for forward Jacob Barber (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) and two 2011 tenders. The Wild also acquired goaltender Greg Lewis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and defenseman Cody von Rueden (Northbrook, Ill.) last week. The latest addition to the Wild roster is forward Mario Puskarich (Cape Coral, Fla.). Lewis, von Rueden and Puskarich were all picked up from USHL teams.

Jaeger Among Best in January

‚¬Â¢ Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.) was named an honorable mention pick for the SBK Hockey Goaltender of the Month award for January. Jaeger posted a record of 4-2-1 in January with a goals-against average of 1.86 and a save percentage of .913. He also recorded three shutouts.

Jaeger, the NAHL's Goaltender of the Year in 2009-10, was a 2-time winner of the Sherbrook Hockey Goaltender of the Month last season.

Wild vs. Monsters

‚¬Â¢ The Wild is 7-1 against the Monsters. ‚¬Â¦ In those eight games, Wenatchee has outscored Fresno, 37-17. However, five of the eight games were decided by one goal. ‚¬Â¦ Ben Carey (Centennial, Colo.) leads the Wild in games against Fresno with 10 points (5G, 5A) while Vandercook has nine points (2G, 7A). Carey and Vandercook are plus-6 and plus-3, respectively, against the Monsters. ‚¬Â¦ Jaeger is 7-0 with one shutout against Fresno. He owns a goals-against average of 1.84 and a save percentage of .916 in those seven games. ‚¬Â¦ Derek Sutliffe leads Fresno with five points (3G, 2A) against Wenatchee. ‚¬Â¦ Tom Conlin was in net for the Monsters in their only win over the Wild, 4-3, on Jan. 21. Overall in three games against the Wild, however, Conlin is 1-2 with a goals-against average of 5.22 and a save percentage of .854.
