
Wenatchee Suffers First Loss of 2010

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Wenatchee Wild suffered a 6-3 loss Saturday night to the Wichita Falls Wildcats. It was Wenatchee's first loss in 2010.
As they did in the previous two games of the series, the Wild got off to a fast start in the first period, taking a 2-0 lead on goals by Andrew Christ (Spokane, Wash.) and Dajon Mingo (Canton, Mich.). Christ scored on a slap shot from the slot at the 8:34 mark on a pass from Jake Flynn (Wenatchee, Wash.), and Mingo smacked home a rebound at the 12:42 mark. Jeff Jubinville (Edmonton, AB) and Michael Di Puma (Chicago, Ill.) earned the assists on Mingo's goal.
The Wildcats battled back in the second, tying the game on even strength goals by JT Osborn and Broderick Browne. Wichita Falls took its first lead of the game, and its first lead of the series, with less than a minute remaining in the second period when Ian Young scored a power play goal on a wrist shot from the slot.
Osborn, Adam Kuhn and Tyler Lundey all scored goals in the third period as Wichita Falls increased its lead to 6-2. Defenseman Ben Hughes (Jacksonville, Fla.) added a late goal for Wenatchee for the 6-3 final. It was Hughes' first goal with the Wild. Adam McKenzie (Petaluma, Calif.) and Mingo assisted.
Andrew Kelly made 32 saves on 35 shots for the Wildcats, including a few clutch saves in the third period. Brendan Jensen (El Granada, Calif.), who suffered his first regulation loss with the Wild, turned aside 22 of 27 shots.
The Wild will try to regroup when they open a 2-game series on the road against the Texas Tornado on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Central time. The second game of the series will be played on Saturday at 7 p.m. Central time.
