Weekly Update: Rapids Visit D.C. United and Host Kansas City

RAPIDS VISIT D.C. UNITED ON WEDNESDAY: The Colorado Rapids will take on D.C. United this Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. MT in the last of three straight road games. While the Rapids have had 10 days off since their 2-0 win at FC Dallas, D.C. is coming off a 1-0 loss to the Dynamo in the inaugural match at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. This Wednesday's match at RFK Stadium in D.C. will be broadcast live on Altitude, Mile High Sports Radio (93.7 FM, 1510 AM) and ESPN Deportes Radio (87.7), with the Coors Light Away Game Viewing Party taking place at The Three Lions in Denver. COLORADO FACES KANSAS CITY SATURDAY NIGHT AT DICK'S SPORTING GOODS PARK: The Rapids' will return to Dick's Sporting Goods Park this Saturday night to face Sporting Kansas City after three straight games on the road. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. MT and will see the Rapids looking for revenge against Sporting, who eliminated Colorado from the 2011 playoffs in the last meeting between the two clubs. RAPIDS HOST PREMIER LEAGUE SIDE SWANSEA CITY ON JULY 24: The Colorado Rapids will host English Premier League side Swansea City on Tuesday, July 24 at 7:00 p.m. MT at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City. The Swans finished their 2011-12 Premier League season with an impressive 1-0 victory over 8th place Liverpool to give them a 12-15-11 record, good for 11th in the table. Tickets to the match will go on sale to the public at starting Saturday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. MT, with a special presale will be available for Season Ticket Holders from Tuesday, May 15 through Friday, May 25. RAPIDS TAKE ON MONTREAL IMPACT ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: The Colorado Rapids take on MLS expansion team Montreal Impact on Saturday, May 26 at 7 p.m. MT at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. COLORADO RAPIDS HOST 17TH ANNUAL 4THFEST ON JULY 4: The Colorado Rapids and Commerce City announced today details for the 17th annual 4thFest, an Independence Day Celebration at Dick's Sporting Goods Park presented by Westerra Credit Union. The 4thFest will be a community festival with live music, family activities, and one of the largest fireworks displays in the state of Colorado, which will follow the Rapids match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, presented by HealthONE. WORLD CUP OF WINE AND BEER SET FOR JULY 12: The fifth annual World Cup of Wine and Beer will be hosted by the Colorado Rapids and Kroenke Sports Charities on Thursday, July 12 on the pitch at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (or on the covered concourse in the case of inclement weather). The event, which will be attended by Rapids players and coaches, is one of several fundraising events put on annually by KSC and features food and drinks from Rapids partners and area businesses, gaming tables, a silent auction and more. RAPIDS U-18 AND U-16 TEAMS FALL TO ST. LOUIS TEAMS, HOST MINNESOTA VISITORS THIS WEEKEND: The Under-18 and U-16 Colorado Rapids Academy teams suffered four losses collectively this weekend to St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri and St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro. The U-16s fell by scores of 2-0 and 5-0, while the U-18s were defeated 3-0 and 1-0. With just four games left this season, the Rapids squads will host Shattuck-Saint Mary's Soccer Academy, the first place team in both age groups, and Minnesota Thunder Academy on Saturday and Sunday this weekend at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
