RAPIDS OUST CHICAGO 2-0 TO RUN RECORD TO 3-1-0: The Colorado Rapids continued their shutout run at home after blanking the Chicago Fire 2-0 on Sunday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. After a scoreless first half, Rapids midfielder MartÃ-n Rivero played a long lofted ball down the right sideline to a streaking Brian Mullan, who settled the ball and found Omar Cummings at the top of the box to score his second of the season. Just before the final whistle, Kamani Hill netted his own rebound to secure the victory and make it two consecutive 2-0 shutouts at home to open the season.
RIVERO AND HILL MAKE MEMORABLE DEBUTS: On Sunday night, Colorado Rapids players MartÃ-n Rivero and Kamani Hill made memorable impacts in their Major League Soccer debuts. In stoppage time, Hill, who was signed to the club on Wednesday and entered the match as a sub in the 82nd minute, finished his own rebound for the first professional goal of his career.
RESERVES BEAT CHICAGO FIRE 2-1 FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON: The Colorado Rapids Reserves defeated the Chicago Fire Reserves on Monday off of a pair of goals from forward Andre Akpan on the stadium pitch at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
