Austin Aztex News Release

Austin Aztex Continue Road Trip with Trip to Sacramento

The Austin Aztex (4-6-1, 8th) will look to turn around recent fortunes and climb back into the playoff hunt. Standing in their way is reigning league champion Sacramento Republic FC at Bonney Field on Saturday, June 6 at 10 p.m. CDT. The road trip will then continue with a USL match at Portland Timbers 2 on June 14 followed by U.S. Open Cup action versus the Houston Dynamo in Houston on Wednesday, June 17.

Over The Weekend: Aztex Fall 1-0 To OKC Energy FC On The Road

While the Aztex continue to look strong in U.S. Open Cup play, their current slide continued in USL play as they fell 1-0 to OKC Energy FC Sunday evening at Taft Stadium.

Kyle Greig scored the lone goal in the 72nd minute to give the Energy the lead as the home team held on to advance their record to 4-2-3 and 5th in the Western Conference. The Aztex slid to 4-6-1 and 8th in the conference standings.

Facility Updates

As many of you know, House Park was heavily damaged during last weeks Memorial Day flooding of Shoal Creek. As reported in the Austin American-Statesman on Sunday, the damage is too significant and we can confirm that we are looking at venue options for the remaining seven home matches of our inaugural season.

In full transparency, we will provide details of the site for the remaining games as soon as we finalize the location, so that we may continue to grow the game in Austin starting with our next home game on June 20 versus the Tulsa Roughnecks.

Event: Austin Charity Shield 2015

The local supporters groups for English soccer powerhouses Arsenal and Liverpool will play their annual soccer match this Saturday, 6/6 at Onion Creek Soccer Complex followed by a reception at Black Sheep Lodge. This year, the funds raised will support the Aztex Soccer Foundation.
