Week Five Vidswap.Com Players Of The Week Announced

March 31, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release


Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is excited to reveal the Week Five Vidswap.com Players of the Week. In a week which included the first national broadcast of an IFL regular season game, millions of fans had the opportunity to witness the play of the best indoor football players in America. Each week the IFL will select three players, one from each phase of the game, offense, defense, and specials teams, whose play on the field stood out among the rest of the competition. Ten games were featured in the fifth weekend of play and the following player's performances propelled them to Week Five Vidswap.com Players of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week: QB Charles McCullum, Kent Predators

Charles McCullum was a one man wrecking crew for the Predators in Saturday's 55-49 win over the Tri-Cities Fever. The Fever had no answer for the dual threat quarterback as he accounted for 288 yards of total offense and 7 TD's. McCullum completed 10 of 13 passes for 164 yards and 4 TD's, adding 30 rushes for 124 and 3 TD's to lead the Predators to the expansion franchise's first ever win. The Predators will have a week to savor this historic victory as they have a bye in Week Six.

Defensive Player of the Week: DL Luis Vasquez, Arkansas Diamonds

Luis Vasquez and the rest of the Arkansas Diamonds got back on the winning track defeating the Abilene Ruff Riders 53-34 in Week Five. Vasquez led a ferocious defense attack which harassed the Ruff Riders offense all game long. From the defensive end position Vasquez recorded 4.5 tackles, including 3 for loss, 2.5 sacks, and forced one fumble. The Diamonds will be back in action on Saturday when they host the Austin Turfcats.

Special Teams Player of the Week: K David Hendrix, West Michigan ThunderHawks

David Hendrix becomes the second ThunderHawk in as many weeks to be named a Player of the Week (QB Brad Iciek Week Four Offensive Player of the Week). Hendrix, an All-American at Grand Valley State University, converted 3 of 4 field goals and 6 of 7 extra point attempts (15 points) in a 57-51 win over the Rochester Raiders. Hendrix displayed a powerful leg, drilling field goals from 25, 31, and 50 yards as the ThunderHawks continued to impress in the early goings of the 2010 season. The team will have a bye in Week Six.
