Over a Cup of Coffee

Stats, to be short and simple, are important.

The reporting and posting of statistics is a basic element of the game of football. They allow comparisons between players and a way to verify the cedentials of the game's stars, both for fans and the media. That's the way it always has been, always will be, so it frustrates me to no end why this area still isn't taken seriously by professional indoor football teams.

I checked all four of the leagues on Sunday morning to see if the previous night's game stats were reported and posted. In the IFL, which uses Pointsreak, everything should be automatically updated if input correctly at the arenas. Unfortunately, it wasn't. For example, the Tri-Cities Fever have played three games, but showed statistics for only two. On to the AIFA, the last stats posted were from Friday's Wyoming game. In the SIFL, although into its second week, I couldn't find any stats. The CIFL was all up to date.

Four leagues filled with teams that claim to be professional, yet all but one failed in one of the most basic areas of game reporting: the timely reporting of game statistics. That just doesn't make sense to me at all.

I said short and simple and I meant it. There isn't any need for any long commentary, the numbers, or should I say lack of numbers, says it all.
