Calgary Stampeders News Release

As part of their commitment to support grassroots football, the Calgary Stampeders are proud to present the Calgary Area Midget Football Association game of the week.

The featured game for Week 2 of the 2015 season pits the Hilltoppers against the Cochrane Lions. The contest takes place on Tuesday, Apr. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Shouldice Park's Stampeder Field.

The Hilltoppers are coming off a 26-2 win over the Broncos in the opening week of play while the Lions were defeated 28-0 by the Airdrie Raiders.

Ted Kubongo rushed for more than 100 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Hilltoppers last week while quarterback David Thairu has demonstrated the ability to manage the offence and use his legs if needed.

Defensively, the Hilltoppers are led by their front line. The other members of the squad are young but aggressive and play together as a team.

The Lions are coming off a tough loss to the Raiders, who will be a top team in CAMFA, but put up a good fight without Team Alberta QB Des Catellier.

Lions linebacker Daniel Tietz had a breakout game in the season-opener with 10 solo tackles and was flying all over the field. Running back Brad Hillier, who ran hard all night and often broke tackles in space, will be looking to have a big game.
