Week 12 Players of the Week Named

The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for week twelve of the 2023 XV season. Arizona Quarterback, Drew Powell, is the Offensive Player of the Week. Bay Area Linebacker, Darin Hungerford, earns Defensive Player of the Week. Special Teams Player of the Week goes to Josh Gable, Kicker for the Massachusetts Pirates.
Drew Powell - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Northern Arizona hosting Arizona in now in contention for game of the year. It was relentless action with both teams trading blow after blow. So, it shouldn't be a surprise when a game such as this produces a Player of the Week. Both Quarterbacks were amazing and worthy of accolades but only one led his team to victory. Drew Powell has reignited the fire for the Rattlers. They are 3-1 since his return and are one of the hottest teams in the league. This week, Powell put on a show. He finished the night going 17/30 for 181 yards and five passing touchdowns. On the ground he added 48 yards and three touchdowns. Eight total touchdowns at the hands of Powell.
Darin Hungerford - DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
There is another team on a tear in the IFL. Bay Area is also on a three-game winning streak, including wins over Frisco, Tucson and most recently, Duke City. The Gladiators gave the Panthers all they could handle for three quarters. Then the Bay Area defense stepped up, pitching a fourth quarter shut out. Darin Hungerford proved once again why he is the leader of the Panthers defensive unit. He was a menace all night for Duke City. On the night, Hungerford accumulated 11 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and two pass breakups.
Josh Gable - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Massachusetts pulled off a massive win in week 12. They hosted the Frisco Fighters who boast the best record in the league and just recently lost their first game of the year. The Pirates were not intimidated. They took a 51-49 lead into the fourth quarter and then outscored Frisco 21-9 in the final frame. Indoor Football Special Teams tends to lend accolades to the return game, but when a kicker racks up 16 total points and his team earns a huge win by 14 points... That impact can't be overstated. Pirates Kicker, Josh Gable, was a deuce machine. He finished the night 1/1 on field goals, 3/6 on extra points and he converted an incredible FIVE deuces.
