The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 1 of the 2016 IFL Season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Charles Dowdell (QB, Spokane Empire)

It was a week of firsts for the Spokane Empire. The IFL's newest members competed in their first IFL game on Saturday night and achieved the team's first victory with a 60-51 win over in state rivals the Tri-Cities Fever. For his performance, Empire Quarterback Charles Dowdell (6'0, 210 lbs., Saginaw Valley State) was named IFL Offensive Player of the Week, the first such award in team history. During the game, Dowdell completed 12 of 20 passes for 160 yards and 6 TDs. He added 9 rushes for 42 yards and another score. After a successful start to the 2016 campaign, the Empire will return home on Saturday night to take on the Wichita Falls Nighthawks.

Honorable Mention: Lemans Casimier (WR, Iowa Barnstormers), Julian Laing (RB, Billings Wolves), Brandon Mitchell (QB, Colorado Crush), Demarius Washington (WR, Colorado Crush)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jermiah Price (DL, Cedar Rapids Titans)

Reigning IFL Defensive Player of the Year, Jermiah Price, picked up in 2016 where he left off in 2015, tormenting opposing quarterbacks. Price (6'2, 255 lbs., Oklahoma State) and the rest of the Titans defensive line were the difference in a 39-15 victory over the Green Bay Blizzard in Week 1. The team registered eight quarterback sacks, with Price tallying four tackles, three sacks, once forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. The Titans will look for a repeat performance from their defensive unit this week when they travel to Sioux Falls to take on the five-time defending United Bowl Champion Sioux Falls Storm.

Honorable Mention: Jamie Bender (DB, Green Bay Blizzard), Xzavie Jackson (DL, Cedar Rapids Titans), Javicz Jones (LB, Iowa Barnstormers), Tyler Knight (LB, Sioux Falls Storm)

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tyler Knight (LB, Sioux Falls Storm)

Sioux Falls began the quest to defend their United Bowl crown with a 51-28 victory over the Billings Wolves. Former Defensive Player of the Year, "Superman" Tyler Knight (6'0, 225 lbs., Mississippi Valley State), set the tone early, blocking a 50-yard field goal attempt by Spencer Groner, and recovering the loose ball in the end zone for a TD. The veteran linebacker would finish the night with 15 tackles and one sack. The Storm play host to conference rivals, the Cedar Rapids Titans, in Week 2.

Honorable Mention: Brandon Rankin (DL, Tri-Cities Fever), Nikolas Sierra (LB, Cedar Rapids Titans), Steven Wakefield (K, Tri-Cities Fever), Korey Williams (KR, Sioux Falls Storm)
