San Jose SaberCats News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 20, 2007) - Bells are ringing in the SaberCats' locker room and they aren't the cowbells that deafen HP Pavilion during game nights in San Jose.
Amidst all the excitement and preparation leading up to ArenaBowl XXI in New Orleans on July 29 (ESPN on ABC, 12 noon PT), San Jose's bruising fullback Matt Kinsinger found time to exchange vows with his significant other on Tuesday evening.
With the wedding being so spur of the moment and preceding maybe the most important game of Kinsinger's career, an elaborate ceremony was out of the question. The couple, along with 15 family members and friends, traveled to nearby Lake Tahoe to tie the knot.
"Garrett McIntyre's dad allowed us to use his boat so we went out to Emerald Bay and got married right there on the water," explained Kinsinger. "She had a beautiful white dress on and a tiara, and I was in linen shorts and a Tommy Bahama shirt. We both wore sandals, it was very nice but not too formal."
In his approach to the wedding, Kinsinger admitted that he was mildly anxious.
"I was a little bit nervous but not as bad as I thought I would be. I had a couple of beers beforehand to relax some. Honestly, I get more nervous for a football game. There's not much you can screw up at a wedding, just repeat what the pastor says and speak slowly and clearly."
Kinsinger's wife, Andrea (or Andi for short), is a high school P.E. teacher at Fountain Lake High School in Arkansas. She also coaches the girl's volleyball and basketball teams. The two will make their home in Hot Springs Village where her father is building a house for them.
When asked if they had plans of expanding the Kinsinger family in the near future, he replied with a chuckle and said, "We're in the process right now."
Another San Jose player might not be as quick to start raising little ones as he is a youngster himself, but wide receiver Ben Nelson is engaged to be married sometime within the next year.
He and his fiancee, Carissa, haven't started in-depth planning for the big day just yet but Nelson was confident that she would be doing a sizeable portion of it.
"She is taking care of all of the planning. She is also picking the honeymoon destination, she will tell me where we're going and I'll foot the bill."
The husband and wife-to-be haven't decided where they will settle down once they are hitched. Nelson says it won't be in California and they will be looking for a house during the offseason maybe in Missouri or Texas, but they "really want to find a place on a lake somewhere."
Ms. White, accompanied by her father, will be traveling to New Orleans to watch the ArenaBowl on Sunday. Nelson's parents, brother and his fiancee will also be attending the title game.
