Web site Wednesday Question for March 16
March 16, 2005 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Princeton WhistlePigs News Release
This is the final installment of the Princeton Devil Rays' "Web site Wednesday" contest. For readers who have joined the team's e-mail mailing list since last week, this contest has run for four consecutive Wednesdays and involves finding the answer to a trivia question. The answer may be found on the P-Rays' "new look" web site at www.princetondevilrays.com with winners' names being placed into a drawing for some great prizes. Once again, we remind you that for this week's question, you will have only until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 to submit your answers to us via e-mail at raysball@sunlitsurf.com and please do not forget to include your U.S. postal mailing address so we will know where to send your prize cards. The winners for the March 16 contest will be listed in the March edition of "Raywatch," the official monthly e-mail newsletter of the Princeton Devil Rays. We wish you the best of luck and hope you have enjoyed getting acquainted with the new web site and will continue visiting it to keep up on the news and latest happenings of your team, the Princeton Devil Rays!
LAST WEEK'S ANSWER AND WINNERS
More winners and a new name or two are on the lists of our March 9 correct entries. To review, the question last week was "Who is the only member of the Princeton Patriots to still hold a Princeton franchise record in an individual single-season hitting category?" The correct answer was Troy Rusk, who set a single-season franchise record for walks with 52 in the 1990 season that still stands today. We had eight local winners who won both a $6.00 gift certificate from the Blarney Stone Restaurant of Princeton and also a gift certificate from Princeton's newest dry cleaner, Mountain Fresh Cleaners, which is located on Princeton Avenue. The local winners who scored this double play by getting the March 9 question correct were Heather Bailey, Christie Cook, Bill Criss, Daniella Hatfield, Will Horton, Wilma Larew, Frank Lewis, and Jordan Pruett. For our out-of-area readers who submitted correct entries, we had eight copies of the April issue of "At The Yard" magazine on the line to be awarded via a drawing of names. The "elite eight" receiving the magazine were Cecil Blauser (Karns City, PA), Bryce Casto (Dunbar, WV), Kevin Clark (Radford, VA), Scott Gibson (St. Albans, WV), Mike Judge (Fishersville, VA), Grant McKay (Cincinnati, OH), Rob McNamara (Rockville, MD), and Melanie Roth (Scott Depot, WV-yes). Also submitting the right answer were Byron Brown (Cool Ridge, WV), Cy Campbell (Denton, TX), David Cross (Danville, VA), Ron Martin (Clemmons, NC), Jeffery Smith (Cleveland, OH), and Aaron Watson (Palm Harbor, FL). As our regular participants know, we have had two winners on each of our last three "Web site Wednesdays" walk away with a fitted Princeton Devil Rays New Era Cap. Winning for March 9 were Will Horton of Princeton, and Aaron Watson of Palm Harbor, FL. Okay let's all get ready to play "Web site Wednesday" for March 16 and let's finish this contest with our most winners yet!!!
PRIZES TO BE AWARDED FOR MARCH 16:
Ten local readers who submit the correct answer will receive gift certificates to the Blarney Stone Restaurant, located at 902 Stafford Drive in Princeton. Every time you go there, you see more people enjoying their Reuben sandwiches, thick cheeseburgers, Mom's Spaghetti, and of course we would be remiss if we did not mention their quickly becoming legendary Mountain Dew Cake!! These ten local winners will be determined by a drawing of names unless less than ten correct answers are received and then all correct answers will receive a Blarney Stone prize card.
Also, as a special bonus once again for this last segment, ten local readers who submit the correct answer for the March 16 version of "Web site Wednesday" will definitely be big "clean up hitters" with the awarding of a gift certificate from Mountain Fresh Cleaners of Princeton. These ten winners will be determined by a drawing of names unless less than ten correct answers are received and then all correct answers will receive the prize cards.
It is safe to say that all the local readers of e-mail contests regarding the Princeton Devil Rays have been very impressed with the large number of out-of-area readers we have and the wide range of cities from which you hail. On behalf of all of our local fans here, we say "thank you" for your interest in Princeton Devil Rays professional baseball. As a reward for your loyalty and to coincide with the last "Website Wednesday," we are going to make this a special contest for you also. We will award a special baseball collectible item (What could it be?) to five out-of-area readers correctly answering the March 16 question via a drawing of names. Also, the first five out-of-area readers submitting correct answers for March 16 that did not win the April issue of "At The Yard" magazine last week, will make that a reality this week.
3a Hey local readers, let's finish this contest up with a bang! For those of you local
readers who have your foot to the floor on that internet gas pedal, let's give the
first six of you answering correctly an April issue of "At The Yard" magazine
also!
Also, for the fourth and final time, two of our (either local or out-of-area) overall winners will also be eligible to win one of two P-Rays' fitted New Era baseball caps (we will contact the winners for their hat sizes) to be awarded via a drawing of names.
PLEASE NOTE ON ALL PRIZE CARDS RECEIVED THAT THE EXPIRATION DATE TO REDEEM YOUR PRIZE IS APRIL 30, 2005.
REMEMBER, YOU HAVE UNTIL 11:59 P.M. ON MARCH 16, 2005 TO SUBMIT YOUR ANSWER TO THE FOLLOWING QUESTION:
What player in the history of professional baseball in Princeton, has appeared in the most career games for Princeton without ever being named to an Appalachian League All-Star team?
