Waza Flo News Release

(Detroit, MI-November 19, 2010) The Detroit Waza, in what co-coach Dominic Scicluna called an "all around strong game", defeated the Louisville Lightning 6-4 this evening at the Mockingbird Valley Soccer Complex in Louisville.

"The two goals by Decu gave us the momentum and mindset that we had a chance tonight," said Scicluna. "Vito (Waza 'keeper Lonigro) came out and played strong for us. This was a game we needed."

Costea "the Count" Decu and Matt Johnson led the Waza (1-1) in scoring with two goals each and. Matt Lividini and Niki Djokic each added one of their own. Johnson scored both the game winner, and an insurance goal on the Lightning's sixth attacker with one second remaining in the fourth quarter.

Jerry Chavez scored twice for the Lightning (0-2) and Kolby LaCrone and Ross Hopkins scored one each.

In his first start of the season, Lonigro faced 37 shots and made 28 saves for the Waza.

There will be no rest for the Waza this weekend, as after this evening's game, they will take the two hour drive up Interstate 75 to Cincinnati where they will face the Kings at the legendary Cincinnati Gardens on Saturday night at 7:30PM. The Kings may not be that fresh themselves, as they were on the road as well, where they defeated the Ohio Vortex 9-4 in Canton on Friday night.

The Detroit Waza are charter members of the Professional Arena Soccer League, which is starting its third season of play. The Waza will open the home portion of their 2010-11 schedule on Sunday, December 5th, when they will host the Cincinnati Kings at the Taylor Sportsplex at 4:30PM.
