Waza Flo News Release

It was an intense week of training to get the Detroit WAZA FLO ready to play Cleveland. There last meeting a month ago still stung in a battle that ended in a loss and some fairly bad feelings.

WAZA FLO knew they had clinched a playoff berth coming into this game, but they still wanted to control their own destiny and make a statement about their last game in Cleveland. "We knew we had to win by a solid score," stated head coach Dominic Scicluna. "We needed to make a statement, and if it came down to looking at goal differential to set up the playoffs, we wanted to be on top."

The teams played hard and had no scoring in the first half of the first quarter. And then within the span of five minutes, WAZA scored 4 and Cleveland netted 3. WAZA took that lead and never looked back. Two more goals in the second quarter, gave WAZA a 6-3 at the half. By the end of the third quarter the score was 8-6 WAZA.

In the fourth quarter, the Cleveland keeper was aggressively leaving the goal and WAZA made them pay. With five more goals, WAZA wins the game with a 13-7 final.

"It was a true team effort. We had everyone contributing, " commented Scicluna. "We won the game, and we got the goals. We did what we had to do."

The team had tallies by Grba (2), Ducker, Djerisilo, Byrd, Decu (3), Bowman, Otieno and Djokic (3).

WAZA FLO has two more regular season away games in Cincinnati on 2/15 and in Cleveland on 2/16.
