Waza Second Season Underway

November 20, 2009 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Waza Flo News Release

ROYAL OAK, MI- Detroit WAZA FLO started off their 2009-10 season in the win column with a victory over the newly formed Ohio Vortex. The Vortex came into the second half leading 3-2, but WAZA was able to put away three consecutive goals, two of which came from Drew Ducker in under five minutes of each other.

Ducker, who scored three goals in total, helped WAZA win their first match of the year in their first try. Last year they had to overcome a 0-6 start to their season before turning it around at home, to finish with a respectable 7- 9 record. Ducker is one of several players WAZA has signed, from the now defunct Detroit Ignition of the XSL. Other players include Valentino Scicluna, Matt Johnson, Zach Wilkes, Nik Djokic and Doug Rice.

"This is a big win to start the season" Co-Head Coach John Roumayah stated. "We are starting this season where we left off last season, with a win! We have high expectations this year and anything short of the playoffs will be a disappointment."

WAZA took full advantage of the fast paced game against the Vortex, and may have caught the new team off guard with their endurance, speed, and style of play that PASL-Pro includes.

Detroit will now start a back-to-back road trip with a match Friday night in Kentucky to play the Louisville Lightning, and Saturday in Cincinnati to battle 1790. "This weekend's road trip will give us a good idea of where we are at in this young season. A couple of wins would be an outstanding start," Roumayah stated.

After the double header road trip, it's back to Detroit for a rematch of 1790 Cincinnati on WAZA's home turf Sunday December 6th at the Taylor Sportsplex with a 7:30 game time.
