Waza Overcome Deficit, Defeat Kings 6-4 in 2010-11 Home Opener

Waza Flo News Release

In front of a lively standing room only crowd at the Taylor Sportsplex, the Detroit Waza defeated the Cincinnati Kings 6-4 this evening in the club's home opener.

The Waza (2-2) overcame a 4-2 Kings' lead in the fourth quarter, extracting a little revenge from their 10-3 loss to the Kings (5-1) in Cincinnati on November 20th.

The loss for the Kings was their first of the season after winning their first five.

"We played fairly well in the first half, but after Cincinnati scored those two goals, we lost our concentration," said Waza co-coach Costea Decu. "I told the boys that we needed a quick goal in the fourth quarter to turn things around, and when we scored, it woke everyone up."

"Although it was important that we won, I think it was just as important that we put on a good show," said Waza co-coach Dominic Scicluna. "I told everyone that it was imperative that we win at home, and after some mistakes, we got it together in the fourth quarter, and we showed everyone what we could do. I think we can make this a building block for the rest of the season."

The Waza will return to the Taylor Sportsplex on Saturday night, December 11th, when they will host the Ohio Vortex, with a 6:30PM kickoff. The Vortex defeated the Waza 11-10 on November 13th. Tickets will be available at the Sportsplex on game night.

The Detroit Waza are charter members of the Professional Arena Soccer League, which is starting its third season of play. For more information, visit the team's home page at www.wazafc.com/pasl or the PASL's official website at www.pasl-pro.com.
