Austin Wranglers News Release

AUSTIN-The Austin Wranglers announced today that Wayne Hodes has joined the organization as the team's chief operating officer. Hodes will oversee the Wranglers business operations.

"The addition of Wayne Hodes will help the Austin Wranglers continue to bolster the team's business operations," said Team President Doug MacGregor. "He brings tremendous sports business expertise, insight and leadership to the organization, which will direct the team's future growth and success."

Throughout his career, Hodes has worked in management at the highest levels of professional sports, most recently with Hantz Group Sports & Entertainment Company in Detroit, Michigan as the executive vice president of business development. Before moving to Detroit, Hodes spent three years as the vice president of sales and marketing for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays of Major League Baseball from 2003-05.

Having worked in professional football with the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League as the team's chief sales and marketing officer from 2000-03, Hodes led a sales staff that sold out 22 of 23 home games during his tenure. That ended a seven year span that lacked a Saints sell out at the Louisiana Superdome.

Hodes has extensive experience in Minor League Baseball having served in the California League as assistant general manager of the San Bernardino Spirit in 1992 and as vice president of operations of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in 1993. He also held the position of general manager and chief operating officer for the Trenton Thunder of the Eastern League from 1993-2000.

In 1996, "The Sporting News" named him professional baseball's Minor League "Executive of the Year." The Eastern League and the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues also named him Eastern League "Executive of the Year" in 1995 and 1998. Under his direction, the Trenton Thunder were honored with the Bob Freitas Award as the 1998 "Organization of the Year" in Minor League Baseball presented by Baseball America and the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues.

Hodes has a bachelor of science in sports administration from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and pursued a masters degree in sports management from Montclair State College in New Jersey.
