Oregon Waves News Release
Portland, Oregon- the 2009 IBL Championship will feature the Oregon Waves visiting the Los Angeles Lightning on July 25th, 26th and 28th at 7pm, games to be held at Cal Lutheran University located in Thousand Oaks California. The 2009 IBL season featured the best talent in the league's five year history. The two teams that will play for the IBL 2009 Championship were so intriguing-that the IBL decided to make the Championship into a 3-game series (originally a single game event). The Oregon Waves roster features various All Pac 10 players as well as the 2008 Big Sky player of the year Jeremiah Dominguez. The L.A. Lightning features six ex-NBA players. The Los Angeles Lightning coach Ron Quarterman predicts a 'tough series' in the IBL Finals; the following is an excerpt from Los Angeles Lightning Director of Media relations Dave Loveton July 24th- With the biggest collection of stars in the five-year history of the International Basketball League, you would think the Los Angeles Lightning would be a big favorite in the IBL Finals, which begin on Saturday night at Cal Lutheran. Not so, says second-year L.A. coach Ron Quarterman. "I think it will be a tough series," said Quarterman of his team's best-of-3 pro basketball battle with the Oregon Waves, which opens with 7 p.m. games on Saturday and Sunday at the Gilbert Sports Arena. "We've been up against younger guys all year, so this will be no different- "We have a lot of players with different skill sets. We can go up-tempo or play in the half-court. We can also play defense."
