Milwaukee Wave United News Release

(Milwaukee, WI) Milwaukee Wave United, the Wave's A-League (outdoor) club announced today that it has signed midfielder Angel Rivillo to a three-year contract. The 24-year old Venezuela native is coming off his best professional season in which he tallied 10 points (four goals, two assists) for the Milwaukee Rampage (the team that Wave United is replacing) in helping that squad to the 2002 A-League title. Rivillo becomes the fifth former Rampage player to sign with Wave United following Jeremy Aldrich, Dennis Fadeski, Steve Bernal, and Digital Takiwara.

Rivillo, who attended high school in Duncanville, TX before going on to play at Creighton University, is entering his fourth professional season in 2003. He began his pro career with the Dallas Burn of Major League Soccer (MLS) before coming to Milwaukee for the 2002 campaign. He finished fourth on the Milwaukee team scoring list (tied with Igor Soso) and also had one of the A-League "Goals of the Year," a 50 meter strike against Atlanta in Milwaukee's 3-0 win over the Silverbacks on 7/19/02.

"It's a thrill to be part of one of the best soccer organizations in America such as Wave United," said Rivillo. "I'm happy to be here and hope to bring more glory and satisfaction to the club and fans."

The 5-7, 155 lb. central midfielder is once again expected to be a key factor in Milwaukee's attack for the upcoming season.

"Angel is an experienced player who because of his outstanding technical ability will create scoring opportunities and help with our possession in the midfield," said Wave United Coach Art Kramer. "We look forward to having him this season."

Wave United opens its first A-League season on Friday, May 16, 7:05 PM when it hosts the Minnesota Thunder at Uihlein Soccer Park. Art Kramer's team will also host the defending MLS champion Los Angeles Galaxy in an exhibition match on Sunday, May 18, 4:05 PM at Uihlein.
