Greg Howes named A-League Player of the Week
Forward Greg Howes has been named A-League Player of the Week for his efforts in two Milwaukee victories last week. The 27-year old Howes, a fifth year pro from Oregon State University, totaled four goals in the two games last week, including game-winners in both. He's the first Wave United player to earn the award this season; it's also the second time in his two-year Wave United career that he's garnered the award. (Greg was also named A-League Player of the Week for his performance during Week 15 (7/21-7/27) in 2003.)
On Tuesday (8/17), Howes opened the week with the club's lone goal in a 1-0 win in Calgary. Two nights later (8/19) with the score tied 2-2 at home against Edmonton, Howes found the back of the net for what proved to be the game-winner in the 80th minute and went on to score two more in the next seven minutes for a hat-trick on the night en route to a 6-2 victory.
