Milwaukee Bonecrushers News Release
MILWAUKEE, WI -- A three-goal outburst over 86 seconds of the third quarter led the Chicago Storm over the Milwaukee Wave 10-4 on Saturday in the final game of the MISL Preseason Classic at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
Many of the Wave regulars returned to action after sitting out one or both of the first two games. Marcio Leite of the Wave - who scored twice against Detroit but rested Saturday morning against Orlando - scored his third goal of the tournament in the first quarter put Milwaukee up 2-0 over the Storm.
Mario Bollella contributed a goal and two assists for the Storm, who finished with a 3-0 mark. He also had two assists in the Saturday morning contest as Chicago defeated Detroit 10-6. Anthony Maher scored Milwaukee's other goal against the Storm, a power-play effort early in the fourth period.
The Wave defeated the Orlando Sharks 8-6 in their morning contest. Carlos Iprales tapped home a rebound of a Brett Wiesner shot just 18 seconds into the game, and the Wave built an 8-0 halftime lead with goals by Mike Schmitt, Joe Di Buono and Sergio Iniguez. Orlando made it interesting with a pair of fourth-period scores, but the Wave - who sat nearly all their regular players - survived the Sharks' sixth-attacker attempt.
In the other game Saturday, Detroit defeated Orlando 11-2. The public's next chance to see the Wave is on Oct. 23 at the first of three School Day Games the Wave will play this season. Played at 10:30 a.m., the games are part of the Making Waves school initiative. Tickets are $10.
