adidas Named Official Football Supplier
October 6, 2007 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) News Release
CANTON, OHIO - The Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) has partnered with adidas as the "Official Football Supplier" to the league and its teams.
The deal between the CIFL and adidas® will begin as a football partnership in 2008 with additional discussions in place to fully brand the league with adidas®. "This is a great relationship between the CIFL and adidas®, it will give us an opportunity to partner with a top of the line supplier for both footballs and any other adidas® products that will be made available," said CIFL co-founder Jeff Spitaleri.
The initial supply of footballs will be distributed to the teams in the league in order to have a feel for the new football, which will have a significant difference from the Spalding football that was used during the previous two seasons. The Spalding footballs had a slick logo on them, which led to many complaints from quarterbacks and players that they were too slick while throwing. The adidas® footballs will have fully embossed CIFL and adidas® logos and will be lighter in color than the orange color ball from Spalding.
A photo of the new adidas® CIFL football is available for viewing on the CIFL website in the adidas® article.
