WATZ signs on as IceDigger broadcast partner

The Alpena IceDiggers, of the North American Hockey League is partnering with WATZ AM 1450 for radio broadcasts.

As the IceDiggers radio flagship station, WATZ begins its 25-game schedule with Alpena's home opener (Oct. 14, 7 p.m. ET) against the Traverse City North Stars.

"The IceDiggers are very pleased to have WATZ 1450 as its radio flagship station," said Kenny Miller, IceDigger Head Coach and General Manager. "We're launching a new era of IceDigger hockey and we are excited to continue into a bright future with such a dynamic partner like WATZ."

WATZ is a local radio station owned and operated by Midwestern Broadcasting. Select games will be broadcast live on AM 1450 and can also be heard on Charter Communications Channel 13 in Alpena.

"We are happy to form a relationship with the Alpena IceDiggers this season," said Steve Wright, Operations Manager and Program Director of WATZ Radio. "Combining WATZ's heritage and strength with something new and exciting, is a positive for the entire community and it's a win-win for both the IceDiggers and WATZ."

In an effort to allow the largest possible audience to hear the games, the IceDiggers and WATZ will make the broadcasts available on line via Teamline. Teamline is a telephone & internet service that allows you to hear the LIVE play-by-play of the IceDigger teams' games from anywhere in the world.

To listen over the net, please visit the IceDigger website, click on the "TEAMLINE" button and the audio stream will download to your desktop. Broadcasts can be heard via the phone when using the TEAMLINE service. To access Alpena games on the telephone dial 1-800-846-4700. Enter team code 3132 when prompted. The cost to listen on the phone is $25.00.

This Friday's game will also be video taped by Alpena Marketplace Productions and will air Tuesday, October 18; Thursday, October 20; and Saturday, October 22 on Alpena Cable Channel 3.
